(I posted the first one of these here, but when I added the second one on AO3 I forgot to also do it here, so now here it is all at once...)

These are the playlists for both parts of my Remus/Tonks story, "Be the Light in My Lantern" and the sequel "Raise Your Lantern High." Let me tell you a story about how that all started...

Basically, way back when I started writing this story, I had a silly idea about using a song snippet/quote at the start of each chapter – in large part because I wanted to use the "traditional" song "God Rest Ye Merry Hippogriphs" as one of them!

But once I started thinking about songs that might work well with the story, I couldn't stop. It became a parallel project: creating the fanmix, one song per chapter, where the song's lyrics and hopefully even overall feel would reflect something about the content of that chapter. It was an epic project, at one point involving 40+ scraps of paper spread out across the kitchen table to determine which songs fit best with which chapters...

The end results of all that overzealous focus now exist in listen-able playlist form! Embedding the links isn't working well here, unfortunately, so I'm going to link to the same thing on AO3 instead. Here you can find both playlists (one for "Be the Light in My Lantern" and one for "Raise Your Lantern High") as well as the tracklists. YES, feel free to consider the "Raise Your Lantern High" mix a teaser for the upcoming story!

ETA: 8tracks, which hosted the playlists, has since stopped streaming, so the links I had used may eventually stop working. So instead I wrote up the tracklist for the Be the Light in My Lantern story mix in a separate post, and now here's the tracklist for the Raise Your Lantern High story mix:

In honor of the fact that "Raise Your Lantern High" (i.e., Be the Light in My Lantern Pt. 2) is coming sooo soooon – and with many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] nerak_rose who pointed me in the right direction to finally figure out how to make an online fanmix! – I've put together the official Be the Light in My Lantern Playlist.

These are the songs from which I drew the quotes that head up each chapter of the story (and yes, that's so dorky, but I'm a singer and I really do think in music sometimes!) It's a quirky mix of a few well-known classics (the Beatles, Leonard Cohen, Jeff Buckley, etc.) and a whole lot of relatively unknown, wonderful singer-songwriters I've discovered or even been lucky enough to know personally over the years. Definitely gives insight into my music interests; also gives insight into what I've been listening to over the five years it's taken to write this story! A labor of love, and an homage to singers I admire. Okay, I'll shut up now and link to it:

You can find the tracklist and a link to the mix here.

Or just go straight to listening to it here.
