Today five years ago – on September 19, 2010, at least as best I can reconstruct from looking back at the datestamps on Word docs – is precisely the day I started working on what has gone on to become a truly MASSIVE project, my big Remus/Tonks story "Be the Light in My Lantern." I did not know when I started it that this would be a 5+ year undertaking! (It was only the second fic I started writing, ever.)

Lantern Part 2 (now considered a separate, second story titled "Raise Your Lantern High") is aaaalmost ready to start posting. I'm a third of the way through the final editing pass on the whole thing; theoretically I could post chapter 1 now and hope the editing of later chapters keeps pace with the posting of earlier chapters. In fact, I strongly considered posting chapter 1 today, on September 19, because how fitting would that be? But I'm going to give it a little more time, to be sure I can do the necessary editing without rushing. (Also, I've got out-of-town friends visiting – all the way from Chile! – so spending time with them was my priority today.)

So: "Raise Your Lantern High," the HBP-year half of my Remus/Tonks magnum opus, is coming soon soon soonest. The already existing half, "Be the Light in My Lantern," set in the OotP year, can be found HERE, for anyone who wants to find that.

I'm so excited! I can't believe this thing is almost real.
