Ha ha, yes, Lethal White. :-) I don't know what it is about JKR, though; even when her books are a bit of a sprawling mess, I can't help staying invested in the series...
And the Raven Cycle! It was on my to-read list forever (and I even got, while I was working in a school library, to watch one of my students devour the 4th book the moment it came out, which was very satisfying) and then when I read the first book, I could tell it was good, but I just didn't seem to be in a place to give it my full attention at the time, somehow? I think part of the problem is that I've been listening to the audiobooks; maybe these are just books that demand my full attention on the written page.
