That's a good point... I can definitely see how too much joy would mar the perfectly lovely melancholy and brooding atmosphere of the story. There were no happy epilogues for Victorian gothic romances, were there? Happy epilogues seem to be a modern YA invention. ;) On the other hand, Sirius is still "cursed," so there's some melancholy there... the intense passion that I imagine your Remus and Sirius will always have is gothic. Or maybe a completely different tack would be a one-shot from Molly's perspective (or even Fred and George's! that would warrant a very different tone), gladly welcoming Remus's visits in the summer, but still un-initiated into the mysteries of the black dog?
