Just found this by following the link in Lantern, and what a fitting prequel it is. I also thought that the scene in the Shrieking Shack, as appropriate as it was for PoA with all else that was going on in that story, really wasn't enough for Remus and Sirius to get themselves properly sorted out.
Such vivid and true characterization here, with Sirius blazing with impatience and wanting to do something, and Remus keeping so much inside and just wanting everything to work out. I like the way he hears Lily and James's voices in his head -- also something I've imagined -- and the way they give him some perspective when he's upset.
Heartbreaking to see Remus's thoughts right at the end, but very true to him -- he'll be part of something, and back in touch with people who are important to him, and it's no surprise at all that he's looking forward to that.
