Ha, I've been to Berlin twice in my life and couldn't point to specific things, but even I could tell that the setting just wasn't working. *g* The first book had a great sense of place, and the second just didn't.
I wasn't invested in the Jamie/Charlotte thing, so it didn't bother me as much, but yeah, Jamie's behaviour really was annoying. For me it was balanced out by the look at the wider Holmes and Moriarty family backgrounds, but like I said, I just don't feel strongly about the books in general.
(Now, Sherlock, on the other hand, I love A LOT. All of it, series 4 included - I thought that was great. Well, actually, all of it other than The Blind Banker. *g*)
