Yeah, it's really thrown me for a loop – thanks for the commiseration! I was looking forward to this so much, and was making all my plans around it. Not having to pay rent over the summer does mean more freedom, but this was the one time I'd truly decided to sacrifice freedom for stability, because I need the stability!

But yes, travel is the one true upside. I need a little time to stop reeling from having everything pulled out from under me, but then I'll start thinking about travel plans...
