Yes, wholeheartedly agreed, it's perfectly fine (more than fine!) to read things into published works beyond what the author(s) intended – and I LOVE that fandom is a space where a voice is (finally!) given to groups that STILL tend to be mostly marginalized in mainstream media works, whether it's gay relationships, minority characters, non-gender-binary characters, or whatever else. I love so hard that fandom is a safe space for all of this. (I do wish there were just as much femmeslash as slash in the world...but I suppose that's a conversation for another day) ;-)
