La Ronde Noire series master post

La Ronde Noire:

What began as simply a remix of stereolightning's Andromeda-and-Narcissa story "The Chimes at Midnight" showing the other perspective from the same scene (Narcissa-and-Andromeda in "The Landlord's Other Daughter") quickly spilled over into some related thoughts about Narcissa-and-Regulus ("Tea, No Sympathy").

Another inspired suggestion from stereolightning got me wondering whether it would be possible to write a La Ronde (a format in which each subsequent story follows one character from the previous scene into a new scene with another character, until it eventually circles around to the first pair of characters again). By then I was already thinking that an Andromeda-and-Narcissa story I'd already written ("Two Sisters Take Tea," formerly titled "A Visit") could actually bookend such a set of stories quite well. The rest – Regulus-and-Sirius ("Two Brothers Down a Dark Alley Sometime in 1979"), then Sirius-and-Andromeda ("Forget This Tapestry") – fell into place from there!

Here's the whole set:

1. The Landlord's Other Daughter (remix of The Chimes at Midnight by stereolightning) – Narcissa and Andromeda, circa 1971

2. Tea, No Sympathy – Narcissa and Regulus, circa 1976

3. Two Brothers Down a Dark Alley Sometime in 1979 – Regulus and Sirius, 1979

4. Forget This Tapestry – Sirius and Andromeda, 1995

5. Two Sisters Take Tea – Andromeda and Narcissa, 1998
